“Designing skate shoes is difficult. Difficult because the features most needed in a skateboarding shoe directly contradict one another. For example cushioning and board feel: Skateboarders need cushioning to protect their feet from impact, but they also need a thin midsole to feel the board beneath them. Another paradox — durability and breathability: Thicker materials help prevent a skateboarding shoe from blowing out at the seams, but more layers mean less breathability. And then there’s the delicate balancing of tradition and progression in shoe design, between respecting skateboarding’s heritage and blazing the future with advancements of technology and materials.”

Being one of the most anticipated remakes of the plethora of Jordan releases, the white/cement Air Jordan 4 is bracing us with its appearance in February 2012. This re-release will feature some of the initial color schemes from it’s 1990 release aside from the darker shade of grey and Jumpman heel detail. The Nike Mags have been causing quite a frenzy and if you haven’t heard about these making it into actual reality you must live under a rock. Seen orginally in Marty’s shoes in Back to the Future II, Nike has worked extra hard to make a complete copy of Marty’s kicks. The ultra high top model features glowing LED’s and a NIKE logo on the ankle strap, alongside other extra cool functions that will make you fly – well maybe not fly, but you will most definitely acquire some lookbacks. With only 1500 pairs available each kick is being auctioned off via their special eBay site for another 5 days with proceeds supporting Parkinson’s research through the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
Kanye West Debuts Newest Colorway of the Nike Air Yeezy 2 at MTV VMAs

Just when we thought that the VMA’s could not have gotten any better, Kanye West (while performing OTIS on the 2011 VMA’s) debuts the newest colorway of the Nike Air Yeezy II’s. The model features a Zen upper with a glow in the dark sole and solar red lining. Check out the video for closer shots.

Stefan Jankoski’s pro model has been a hit since their release and this season a new colorway has been added to the model’s arsenal. Priced at $75 USD, the sneakers feature a nice upper composed of two tones of blue with leather laces adding in extra detail to the already clean silhouette. Now in 2011, the classic sneaker will see a second retro release with the most notable change being the icey blue sole. Nike Sportswear Sky Force ’88 Vintage

Nike Sportswear presents three new colorways into their suede classic collection. Each sneaker stays true to one color of suede on the upper with the only distinction offered by the white swoosh and off white sole which provides a solid vintage guise. All three colorways will be available through select Nike Sportswear accounts later in the year.
