How To: Dress Dapper Under $200
August 24th, 2011 / 1 Comment » / by Staff

With the global economy being in the worst position it has been in awhile, fashion and style usually goes to the back of everyone’s mind. Instead of thinking of those $1500 Christian Louboutin sneakers, many are thinking how they can continue to pay the bills that the daily living experience provides. We understand that not everyone can keep living like “money grows on tree’s” that is why we want to introduce our “Bargain” section of the site, which was created to allow our viewers to get the inside scoop on dressing like a “rich man” for affordable prices. You get to stay clean, while your pockets remain fat. Continue reading on how this can be achieved.
Shopping On The Go
We are going to assume that our viewers are really busy and hiring a personal shopper is not something you would want to invest in. Running around each and every day, barely making it to work on time, meaning there is not a lot of time for you to go shopping. Luckily enough for you, many of the brands that we all love have online stores which is a great alternative to those who do not have the accessibility to a mall or boutique. It’s easy as one, two, three. Go on their online shop, find something you like, purchase it and they ship the item to your location of choice. When shopping on the budget we chose our three to-go places for all garments including blazers, tees, and everything in-between.
Banana Republic
Perfect for the average working man, Banana Republic gives you the best quality garments for an affordable price. They allow you to dress like Nick Wooster on a hot summer day or if you need to attend a weekend soiree they have the perfect chino’s and cardigans that will look handsome on any man.
J. Crew
When thinking of J.Crew, we automatically think of Yacht Wear. High shorts and boat shoes for any occassion. Not everyone has to buy $240 Oreblar Brown shorts to look stylish. Simple and subtle, J.Crew has got you covered.
Zara
European fit and stylish garments, Zara has amazing appeal and great construction. Zara not only has the best prices but they also offer quality materials from across the pond.
Summary
- Shopping on a budget does not mean you will not look handsome or ready to party – you have to be a smart shopper to discover quality pieces for great prices. Look around!
- Web stores like Zara, Banana Republic and J. Crew are great alternatives to higher end fashion. Although there are many other choices, these three offer garments that will make you look great and their online shops are also a added plus.
- Iron your own shirts and suits. Keep them in a dress bag and we assure you that you will save money!
- Have a tear? Mend on your own buttons instead of spending $15-30 on dry cleaning.
- Only you know what looks great on your body so remember to know your limits and remain “fly”.
- Have any questions? Leave a comment and we will help you out the best we can.

Kanye West Album Review -My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
November 22nd, 2010 / 8 Comments » / by Staff
Kanye West offers A Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and simultaneously emerges as the premier voice in music, art and introspection. This body of work is quite possibly the most selfless in the past decade, while “embodying every characteristic of the egotistic”, (West’s own words). Kanye West is one of only a handful of artist that can give us a glimpse of more than half the album weeks before the release date and still have the public clamoring to purchase the same music we downloaded for free from the rapper’s website. The reason we are willing to purchase a product that was essentially free directly from the artist is because Kanye West’s music has several layers of appreciation; there is the singular appreciation of a single record, then there is a portrait of the collective body of art that we get when we hear the cohesive sequencing of the actual album.

Bittersweet October
October 3rd, 2010 / 5 Comments » / by Staff
Bittersweet, you’re going to be the death of me. I don’t want you, but I need you. I love you and hate you at the very same time. -Kanye West
It’s October and the long bright days of Summer are fading to grey. Fall is upon us and now the iridescence of bright blues, whimsical whites and jubilant yellows fade into forest greens, burnt oranges and mellow browns. Grays and Blacks are back with a vengeance, but keep it fun, all black everything with a splash of color on the feet below or the head above will always help make your Winter hot like Summer. No longer do we behold to the rules of old; No white after Labor Day. Have you ever heard of Winter white? Now throw away the tanks and tees of Summer and wrap a scarf around your neck, a three quarter length fur around your back and some sky high boots on your feet. The opulence of Winter is your pallet and your body is your canvas. So pop in your Diddy Beats earbuds, throw the Macbook in your Black Beauty Headporter case and set your ipod to The Coldest Winter and gear up to navigate the concrete jungle. Remember, in every sophisticated closet one should never opt for style over substance, for true style is a frame that sits atop a strong foundation of substance. Read more…

Anna Wintour Interviewed by Humberto Leon
August 23rd, 2010 / 1 Comment » / by Swagger Junky
Owner and founder, Humberto Leon of Opening Ceremony took the time out to interview the legendary Anna Wintour. There is not much to say other than read this interview!
There’s something truly inspiring about discussing fashion with Anna Wintour that goes beyond her great influence. When Carol and I were invited to her office to discuss Fashion’s Night Out, among other topics, we were struck by how passionate and curious she remains about the fashion world. We were surprised to find ourselves geeking out with Anna on ‘Like a Prayer’-era Madonna, her iPad, lost Soho oculists, and what prompted her to put a pair of jeans on the cover of Vogue in 1988. Of course, the order of the day was Fashion’s Night Out, the event she developed last year to jumpstart global retail. I think that one of the things we share with Anna is an excitement for shopping, and a belief that retail should be fun, which is why being part of the event comes second nature to Opening Ceremony.
