The wait is “OVER”…Drake
Of the three definitive emerging stars in Hip Hop, although none of the three can be accurately confined to any particular genre, grammy nominated Drake has had the most success in the first year of their inception. Kid Cudi’s “Man on the Moon” was the most alternative of the three, but has created a cult following since it’s 2009 release. B.O.B’s “The Adventures of Bobby Ray” charted well opening at number one…. And now Drake’s Thank Me Later: Thank me later led by singles: “Over”, “Find Your Love” and “Miss Me” is a brilliant display of eclectic taste personified through sound. Drakes opus raises the bar. Sonically the album starts off like a blood, sweat, and tears mixtape, unlike his hugely successful mixtape “So Far Gone”, which played like a mastered album, received critical and commercial success all while garnering the freshman troubadour his first grammy nomination. By the third act of this impressive LP the flow of the album seems effortless in it’s sequencing. Infused between the tracks on Thank Me Later is the prevalent DNA of the masters of music’s previous decade. Drake has paid all due respect and homage on his first effort and has received a resounding cosign by his peers; Although the average hip hop fan will not like every track on the album, they are not meant to, Drake’s mission on this record seems to be expanding our musical tastes and that is well done on this album. We just hope that the fans who were looking forward to this record being Hot 97 aren’t disappointed that it’s more Z100. Whether or not Drake is destined or even aiming to be the best thing in the rap game, it is crystal clear his “Jack of all trades” style is one of if not the best thing for music in this humdrum landscape that we’ve all grown accustomed to.

I'd rather be the best then the first! Good article! Great Album. Strategically set up. Lyrical content is priceless
